Green Mountain Greens is a student entrepreneurial opportunity started with the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) program, but now connected to the school’s Agricultural Pathway. In 2015, through a gift from a community member, Green Mountain Greens received an Aquaponics system complete with tilapia fish.
For the past few months, students have been growing basil and most recently began making Green Mountain High School’s very own pesto sauce. Students are currently selling half-pint and 1 pint sizes of sunflower seed pesto made from the basil grown in Green Mountain High School’s Aquaponics system. Students are working on adding a basil tea and a basil syrup offering to the menu this year.
