Health Education covers three main units: mental/emotional health, physical health, and social health. Students will learn how to maintain a healthy balance of these three important aspects of health by learning about: self-esteem, stress management, signs of depression/anxiety, physical activity, nutrition, healthy relationships (STI’s), drugs/alcohol, and violence prevention. My main goal is for my students to walk away from this class knowing how to make good choices that will lead them to a healthy, happy lifestyle.
Safety & First Aid
In Safety & First Aid, students get an opportunity to receive First Aid/CPR/AED certification through the American Heart Association. Students will learn how to respond to a variety of emergencies, both major and minor, that they could come across in their everyday lives. The units we cover are: First Aid Basics, Medical Emergencies, Injury Emergencies, Environmental Emergencies, and CPR/AED.
In Team Sports students will participate in a variety of team activities: softball, football, soccer, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, basketball, team handball, etc. Students will learn basic rules, the benefits of staying active and how to be a team player.
Dance Technique offers students to express themselves through a variety of dance styles. Students will not only learn different styles of dances, they will also have the opportunity to create their own routines.
I am originally from a northwest suburb of Chicago and have lived in Colorado since 2007. I met my husband, Sean, here and we have been married since June of 2014. We love the outdoors (hiking, snowboarding, camping) and the music scene in Colorado, especially Red Rocks!! I have been teaching at Green Mountain since 2013. I look forward to being a Ram for a while now!
