Honors Chemistry– Chemistry is the central science and you will find that you will use it many other science classes. This class is for the college bound who wants to learn the fundamentals of chemistry including atomic theory, periodic table, moles, bonding, chemical reactions, and much more! We also do fun things such as tie dye, s’mores limiting reactants lab, potato/fruit batteries, etc!
AP Chemistry– This is a second year chemistry class for those who take honors chemistry. Be one of the students who can set the curve in college since you are chemistry super-star. It is fast paced chemistry class that goes into more depth than honors chemistry. It will help you be successful for general chemistry in college, start of organic chemistry, and a chunk of quantitative (analytical chemistry). College credit can be earned through Colorado Christian University or through AP scores.
Introduction to Engineering– This is a exploratory class to learn about careers and skills in engineering. Students solve various problems throughout the course and learn the basics of sketching/dimensioning, material science, 3D solid modeling, and more. Projects include using SolidWorks to create their own designs that can be printed and create bridges out of pasta.
Principles of Engineering– This is a second course where student go into more depth of different engineering skills and careers. In this class there is a great focus on bigger projects including cardboard chairs and boats and Rube Goldberg machines. Students also learn about polymer engineering, nanotechnology, environmental engineering, process engineering, and other specialty engineering degrees.
3D Solid Modeling– This class is to learn how to use all of the features of SolidWorks especially the advanced options. 3D printing and milling is also part of the projects in this class. Students can also test out of the first course at Red Rocks Community College if they have taken this class. Students also can learn about which careers may involve using SolidWorks.
Architectural Design– This class allows students to become competent with the program ArchiCAD. Students learn the basics of architectural design and design their dream house using this program. Students also explore careers in architecture and structural engineering. Participation in the ACE Mentor Program is highly encouraged for students taking this course.
