1. Biology, Honors Biology
2. Biology is more than just a subject – it’s the study of Life! It explains how birds can fly, how caterpillars turn into butterflies, why we have characteristics similar to our parents, how life responds to climate, and much, much more.
3. Students can expect to gain an appreciation of the complexities of Life from interactions of biomolecules, to physiology, genetics, and energy-flow through our environment.
I grew up in northern England and studied Horticulture, Earth Science, and Botany at college and university. In 1997, I moved to the USA to study for my PhD at Iowa State University where I studied the evolution of cacti before teaching at Arizona State University, Arizona and setting-up my own cactus DNA research lab. My wife is a Colorado native, and in 2010, we decided to leave the heat of Arizona for the Front Range. In Colorado, I have taught Biology at community college and high-school science (Earth, Biology, Physics, STEM, Biotechnology). I started teaching at Green Mountain High School in 2015.
Some of my expertise is in:
- Molecular (DNA) Biology
